Remnants of former Tropical Cyclone Barbara are bringing high surf across the state.

All east facing shores are under a high surf advisory. O'ahu, Moloka'i and Kaua'i could see 7 to 10 foot waves.

East facing shores for the Big Island and Maui could see surf between 9 and 14 feet high.

Expect strong breaking waves, shore  break, and strong longshore and rip currents making swimming  difficult and dangerous.

Some precautionary and preparedness actions:

  • Beachgoers, swimmers, and surfers should heed all advice given by Ocean Safety officials and exercise caution.
  • Know your limits;when in doubt, do not go out.

The high surf advisory ends Monday morning, but Barbara could bring heavy rain to the Big Island.

There is a flash flood watch for the Big Island through 10 p.m. Monday night. If you see rising water, move to higher ground and never cross fast flowing water.
