Ocean Safety officials on Kaua'i are advising residents and visitors no swimming or snorkeling at all south and west facing beaches due to high surf and dangerous ocean conditions.

The National Weather Service is reporting that the High Surf Advisory is in place for south facing shores of Kaua'i from Kalapaki to Kekaha and Ni'ihau, and will remain in effect through Monday evening. As conditions develop, the advisory may be extended or modified.

Lifeguards are reporting eight to 10 foot waves on the South Shore, with 'very strong rip currents.'

Beachgoers are asked to speak with a county lifeguard before entering the water, and heed all posted advisories and warnings.
