SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. -  Logan Pouelsen tossed a gem, and Ethan Lopez drove in three runs to lead the University of Hawaii baseball team to a 4-1 win over Big West-leading Cal Poly on Sunday at Baggett Stadium. The win caps an eight-game, two-week road swing for the Rainbow Warriors.

With the win, Hawaii improves to 20-24 (8-10 Big West), while the Mustangs fall to 22-22 (12-3 Big West).

Pouelsen delivered 7.0 quality innings on the mound, allowing just one run on three hits with three strikeouts for his third victory of the season. Preseason All-American Dylan Thomas picked up the save after going the final 2.0 innings with three strikeouts without giving up a hit or run.

For Thomas, the save is number four on the season and number 27 for his career. He's now tied with Lenny Linsky for second in UH history for career saves and is one away from tying the school record of 28, which is held by Gene Smith.

At the plate, Lopez provided more than enough offense, going 2-for-5 with three RBIs. Scotty Scott was also productive, going 3-for-5 with two runs scored, while Tyler Best was 2-for-3 with a run.

With runners on first and third in the top of the first inning, Lopez hit an RBI single through the left side of the infield to score Scott for a 1-0 advantage.

After Cal Poly tied the score at 1-1 in the fourth, Hawai?i regained the upper hand with three runs in the top of the fifth. Back-to-back singles from Best and Scott followed by a sacrifice bunt from Jack Kennelly put two runners in scoring position for Brennen Hancock, who delivered an RBI double to center. Lopez followed by knocking in Scott and Hancock with a single to left to make it 4-1.

The Rainbow Warriors will return to O'ahu and have a week off from games before hosting UC Santa Barbara for the final home action of the season on May 17-19 at Les Murakami Stadium.
