Sinclair owns nearly 200 local TV stations, and mandated dozens of on-air talent to read a promo bashing what it calls "fake news."
TV hosts including Jimmy Kimmel and John Oliver have pounced.. wondering how independent journalists can be forced to read a corporate script.
Others are saying this sounds like "pro-Trump" propaganda.
The President responded by tweeting out,"So funny to watch Fake News Networks, among the most dishonest groups of people I have ever dealt with, criticize Sinclair Broadcasting for being biased. Sinclair is far superior to CNN, and even more Fake NBC, which is a total joke."
We shared the video on our Facebook page and here's how you reacted:
- Leanne Crain The propaganda machine at work
- Jam BlackhammerJammer Esteban Fake news! Paid for and approved by the democratic national party
- Rick Lipton We know it happens at high level MSM at least Sinclair can admit it. The real irony is: How does it feel MSM, a little taste of your own medicine. Need some sugar to swallow it
It's worth pointing out, Sinclair does not own any TV stations in Hawaii. KITV's parent company is Lilly Broadcasting, and we have never been asked to use corporate-mandated stories or scripts.
Sinclair has said this is reiterating its commitment to fact-based reporting. Fake news? A commitment to journalism? Keep your thoughts coming!
